JEB-2021-00374.R1 - The evolution of immune function in response to dietary macronutrients in male and female decorated crickets

The data affiliated with this manuscript is presented in an Excel file containing two tabs: (1) Population mean data and (2) SCD.

In the Population mean data tab, the data presented is the mean values for the three immune assays for each sex in each replicate population. Total nutrition refers to whether the diet had a high or low caloric content, Nutrient ratio describes whether the diet was carbohydrate biased (C_bias) or protein biased (P_bias). The Diet switch heading refers to whether the population was switched to the ancestral diet before measuring immune assays (defined as S for switched) or maintained on their original diet (defined as N for not switched). Replicate refers to the replicate population (ranging from 1 to 4). Sex is the sex of the cricket (male or female). HC, ZI and PO are the three immune assays sampled in crickets: HC refers to hemocyte count, ZI refers to zone of inhibition and PO refers to phenyloxidase activity.

In the SCD data, the data presented is the mean values for the three immune assays for each sex in each replicate population maintained on the Standard Cricket Diet (or SCD). The SCD is the ancestral diet for the evolved populations contained in the Population mean data tab. The abbreviations used in this tab are the same as used in the Population mean data tab.
