This project investigated culturally responsible psychotherapy for second generation Arab Australians. It focused on the construct of cultural humility as a relevant and effective disposition that can be embodied by mental health service providers. Data was collected as part of a mixed-methods research design across three studies. In Study 1, data was collected through a structured content analysis of publicly available Australian tertiary degree curricula in psychology, psychotherapy, counselling, and social work. Extracted data included course outlines, subject descriptions, and learning outcomes relevant to cultural learning, cultural responsiveness, and cultural humility. Data were coded using a predefined framework based on regulatory standards in the methodological literature. In Study 2, participant data was collected from mental health practitioners that currently or previously practice in the psychology, psychotherapy, counselling, or social work fields in Australia, and had completed all or part of their tertiary education and training at an Australian institution. Participants completed a demographic questionnaire, the Multidimensional Cultural Humility Scale (Gonzales et al., 2021), and short answer responses via a Qualtrics online survey. In Study 3, participant data was collected from second generation Arab Australians. Participants viewed role-play videos of a therapeutic interaction and completed a demographic questionnaire, the Cultural Humility Scale (Hook et al., 2013), and short answer responses based on the role-play videos via a Qualtrics online survey. Participants also engaged in a focus group discussion, reflecting on the video role-plays as well as any other relevant commentary associated with culturally responsive psychotherapeutic practice. The focus group discussion data was collected via Zoom transcriptions. All quantitative data was exported into SPSS format (.sav) for statistical analysis, and all qualitative data was transcribed and stored as de-identified text files (.docx). All data was collected between 2023 and 2025 within Australia and stored in accordance with WSU ethics approval and data management protocols. For Study 1, this dataset contains an excel spreadsheet of universities, regulatory bodies, and courses included in the content analysis and a word document of learning outcomes extracted in the content analysis. For Study 2, this dataset contains a pdf document of the default report produced by Qualtrics, two excel spreadsheets (.csv and .xlsx) of the data exported from Qualtrics, and a word document of the transcribed qualitative data. For Study 3, this dataset contains a pdf document of the default report produced by Qualtrics, one excel spreadsheet recording the qualitative data from the Qualtrics survey, one excel spreadsheet of the mean scores, one word document and one excel spreadsheet of the transcribed qualitative data from the Qualtrics survey only, two audio recordings (one of each workshop conducted) and two pdf documents of the Zoom transcription of the workshops (one for each workshop conducted).
