Bee pollination services and the burden of biogeography dataset
  • Description

Observations of insect visitation to apple cultivars (Pink Lady, Granny Smith), flower phenology and associated meteorological data (temperature, wind speed, cloud cover) collected at orchards in the Blue Mountains and Central West regions of NSW September-October 2017, 2018, 2019. The spreadsheet entitled ‘Animal_Visitation_Survey_Tierney_RSPB_2023.dat’ contains data on insect visitation to cultivated apple (cv. Pink Lady, cv. Granny Smith), with associated flower phenology and meteorology (temperature, wind speed, cloud cover). The spreadsheet entitled ‘Floral_Phenology_Survey_Tierney_RSPB_2023.dat’ contains data on the number of flower clusters, open flowers for each branch, and the length of the branch in order to calculate the Bloom Index . Detailed information (column descriptions, etc) about these datasets is in the associated README files. These files contain all the data presented in the related manuscript and the ESM. The Authors are open to collaboration – please contact via email s.tierney@westernsydney.edu.au and ORCID 0000-0002-8812-6753 for any proposed downstream use of these data sets.
