Data for [Towards a Wearable Polysomnography Approach: A Dataset of Key Physiology and Body Position Metrics Validated Against In-Laboratory Polysomnography]

    We present a dataset from a wearable sensor capable of monitoring respiration, electrocardiography (one lead), body position/actigraphy, and skin temperature suitable for sleep studies. The dataset has been validated by a simultaneously standard polysomnogram. Data were collected from 7 volunteers (mean age 55.71 years old and BMI 29.89) for 62.94 hours undergoing sleep studies at the Flinders University Sleep Lab.

    Seven people (all male) with previously diagnosed sleep apnoea (via overnight polysomnography) volunteered to wear the ASPEN wearable device during a research polysomnography study. Inclusion criteria were: i)18–70 yr, ii) apnoea-hypopnea index (AHI) > 10 events/hr-sleep. Exclusion criteria were: i) cardiovascular disease, ii) neurological disorder, iii) pregnant or breastfeeding (women only). This study was approved by the Flinders University Ethical Committee (Project number: 4291).

    Data are acquired via a bespoke ASPEN Garment with embedded sensors mated to control electronics enclosed in a custom 3D printed enclosure (ASPEN Box). The ASPEN Box electronics saves data locally (to a removable SD-card) encoded with a binary format and simultaneously transmits these data in real-time to a smartphone app that allows real-time data visualization. Bluetooth wireless communications is enabled by an Innocom BM10_AN BLE built around the Texas Instruments CC2640R2F.

    This data comprises of 7 each polysomnogram WFDB format recordings, .dat and .hea files. The .hea files include the recording data, units of measurement and data ranges. The .txt files contain the participant data, including participant ID, gender, age, BMI, recording date and duration.

    No annotations are provided. Polysomnogram recordings (Compumedics) are not provided.
